đ„ Free Lesson Day 2: Native âMistakesâ To Expect
Yesterday we looked at ellipsis in Present Simple.
Today, weâre looking at something new from my course: native speakers making âmistakes.â
đ Have you ever heard someone say:
She donât like it.
It donât matter.
He donât have a car
At school, youâre taught this is wrong. Technically, yes â the âcorrectâ form is doesnât.
But in real, everyday speech, especially in informal contexts, natives use donât all the time instead of doesnât.
Itâs not about being careless. Itâs a natural technique that makes English faster and easier.

đ Why this matters
As a learner, you donât have to copy this in your own speech,
but it will help to recognise it when natives use it. Otherwise, it can throw you off.
*If youâre still a beginner, I donât recommend copying this technique, however once you feel confident, you can try to use it (especially if it is used by other people in your environment).
This is just one of the dozens of âreal Englishâ insights inside my new course The 7 Magic Tenses. The course shows you not just the textbook rules, but the way people actually speak â so you can understand them without panic, and sound more natural yourself.
